Not in Kansas anymore!

This is part of our moving adventure! To start at the beginning, go here.

Sorry, it was irresistible. Many thanks to our Wichita-based family members who graciously hosted us this weekend! We had a lot of fun. I was put in prison for either stealing a car or taking a trophy off the shelf (it was unclear which of these scenarios was more serious), and when I was let out, I was given a bed, two baby dolls, and binoculars so I could tell whether it was a snake or a ghost. My choices of pets were puppies or unicorns.

Today we drove over 500 miles and climbed almost 5000ft in elevation. Most of the drive looked like this:

We stopped briefly to check out the largest prairie dog in the world, but decided that the taxidermy store out front was too scary and that we should really just keep on going.

We also saw an awesome school bus camper, complete with a VW bus on top, that was being drafted by a pretty serious-looking cyclist. Perhaps a BAAM ride in progress? We’re sorry that there’s no picture of this; by the time we figured out what we were seeing, all we could do was gape.

We’ve made it up into Colorado Springs for the night, where Jason is unfortunately suffering from a nasty elevation headache. Wish him luck! Today’s bridge picture will be two bridges, one road and one railway (photographed from another bridge):

  1. I was in Colorado Springs and Aspen this summer! The elevation is teeeerrrrible (sorry, Jason, you’ll get used to it!!), but the scenery is great. If you head north from there, make sure to get a picture of Boulder for Mike, and if you head west, be prepared for the best view of the whole trip at Independence Pass (choose your driver carefully)!! Love you!!
